Registro argentino de bacteriemias por Organismos multirresistentes en pacientes con CAncer y trasplante de células progenitoras hematopoyéticas

Introduction

The ROCAS registry (Registry of multi drug resistant Organism bacteremia in CAncer and hematopoietic  Stem cell transplant patients in Argentina), began in May 2014 as a multicenter study, creating the Argentinean Bacteremia in Cancer and HSCT Patients Study Group. The purpose was to obtain data on the etiology, risk factors, clinical characteristics and outcome of bacteremia in patients with cancer and HSCT, focused mainly on MDRO.

Until that time, no data were available in our country on epidemiology and the clinical impact of bacteremia by MDRO in this population. For this reason, this multicenter study was created to generate useful data in decision-making for all physicians who assist these patients.

In adition, in 2015 the study of resistance mechanisms in MDR-GNB, carried out at the Antimicrobial Service of National Institute of Infectious Diseases INEI-ANLIS “Dr. Carlos G. Malbrán”, was added to the registry.
